Until Google announced about the Nexus One there are many rumors and guesses. If you look at the leaked information of Nexus One most of them are very much true. Even the leaked pricing information of Nexus One is accurate. Many people are very much interested in the Google Nexus One but many are unclear if it would be a better choice to choose Nexus One over iPhone 3GS. Below are some of the points which will give you clear differences between iPhone 3GS and Nexus One thus helping you to choose the better one.
CPU and Memory – Nexus One vs iPhone 3GS
Google Nexus One is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD 8250 which runs at 1GHz and has 512MB RAM. If you take iPhone 3GS it runs on a Samsung S5PC100 ARM Cortex-A8 600MHz processor and there is just 256MB RAM. This clearly indicates that Nexus One has got more processing power than the iPhone 3GS.
Camera – Nexus One vs iPhone 3GS
In this aspect Nexus One definitely gets more points as it has a 5MP camera when compared to the 3.2MP camera of iPhone 3GS. The other notable point here is the flash that is present in Nexus One. Even the video resolution will be better with Nexus One.
Display – Nexus One vs iPhone 3GS
Google Nexus One has got a 3.7″ widescreen WVGA AMOLED touchscreen and supports a resolution of 800×480 pixels. If you take iPhone 3GS it has a bit lower specs. iPhone has a 3.5″ display and supports 480×320 resolution. So the picture quality in Nexus One will be better than iPhone. But iPhone has a Multi-Touch display which is missing in Nexus One.
Size and Weight – Nexus One vs iPhone 3GS
Nexus One gets a very little bit more points here. Nexus One is 11.5mm thick when compared with the iPhone’s 12.3mm thickness. Even Nexus One weighs(130g) lesser than iPhone(135g).
Storage – iPhone 3GS vs Nexus One
When it comes to storage iPhone definitely scores well. Nexus One has got just 512MB Flash and 4GB Micro SD Card (Expandable to 32 GB). When you take iPhone 3GS the storage can be either 16GB or 32GB. I’m not pretty sure why Google hasn’t had a higher storage capacity for Nexus One which is definitely a drawback.
Power and Battery – Nexus One vs iPhone 3GS
In this area I cannot decide the better one. Nexus One has got a removable 1400 mAH battery whereas iPhone has a built-in rechargeable better. It’s always better to have a removable battery and Nexus one gets more points for that. When we speak about Talk time and Standby time iPhone gets more points. Nexus One has a Talk time up to 10 hours on 2G and 7 hours on 3G when compared with iPhone’s 12 hours on 2G and 5 hours on 3G. The Standby time of Nexus One is up to 290 hours on 2G and 250 hours on 3G whereas iPhonehas 300 hours standby. Nexus One has video playback up to 7 hours and audio playback up to 20 hours compared to the iPhone’s 10 hour video playback and 30 hour audio playback.
Applications – iPhone 3GS vs Nexus One
The Apple App store has got millions of Apps for your iPhone whereas Nexus One has got just few thousands in the Android Market. At this point the more number of apps will definitely give iPhone an upper hand over the Nexus One.
The above points clearly states that Nexus One has better features when compare with the iPhone. But we cannot say right now that Nexus One is better than iPhone as usability and Apps that can use the processing power can only tell us which will be a better mobile. Also remember that though there are many mobiles in the market with higher specifications than iPhone they couldn’t yet beat the iPhone.
